Planning a Mobile Sensory Trailer Birthday Party in the Twin Cities
A mobile party brings the activity space to your celebration. Here is how to decide whether a sensory trailer fits your location, guests, and birthday plans.

What makes a mobile trailer party different?
A mobile sensory trailer party brings a dedicated play environment to your celebration instead of sending every family to a separate venue. For a Twin Cities birthday, that can make the day easier to organize: your cake, family gathering, and play experience can share one location. The trailer is the activity space, while your home or other approved gathering place remains the space for food, gifts, and conversation.
Sense Up School’s Classic and Deluxe trailer packages include a 90-minute experience for 10–12 children, an instructor, and setup and cleanup of the provided activities. The trailer has heating and air conditioning, and the team brings a generator. Those details help distinguish a trailer experience from simply renting supplies. They do not replace a location check or a conversation about weather and access.
Start with the location, not the decorations
Before choosing a theme, identify where the trailer would arrive and where children would move between the gathering and the activities. You do not need to assume a special parking configuration, but the team still needs to understand your location. Describe the proposed arrival area, any narrow access, and whether the event is at a private home or a shared property. If a property manager or venue controls the space, get permission before booking it for a mobile event.
Service is within a 40-mile travel radius of the operating base. Since the exact route and location matter, include your full event address when booking rather than assuming every Twin Cities suburb qualifies. The team can confirm whether your address works. Bringing a generator also means you should discuss where equipment and guest circulation will go rather than planning around an available wall outlet.
Choose the package for the experience you want
The Classic trailer party is $449. The $549 Deluxe package adds sensory gift bags, which can simplify the take-home portion of the celebration. Both are trailer parties with an instructor. Choose between them based on whether you want party favors included, rather than expecting the higher package to solve a larger guest count.
The $249 activities-only package is a different format: four activities delivered, set up, and cleaned up, with the host leading the play. It can suit a host who already has an appropriate activity space and wants more hands-on involvement. An instructor is an additional $65 per hour, and an extra activity is $35, arranged by agreement. See current pricing and describe any larger group or unusual requirements before assuming the standard package covers them.
Give children a simple arrival and transition plan
A clear sequence often matters more than a packed schedule. Tell guests where to arrive, where caregivers should gather, and when the sensory experience begins. Avoid scheduling cake at the same moment the trailer activity is due to start. Build a little space around transitions so a child who arrives late or needs a pause does not feel rushed through the whole celebration.
Share the age range and any relevant access or participation needs with the team ahead of time. Ask what a child’s caregiver should know before arrival. A sensory party is an enrichment experience; it is not individual therapy or a promise that every child will respond in the same way. Offer a calm place away from the busiest activity and make it acceptable for children to observe before joining.
Plan for Minnesota weather and the rest of the party
Heating and air conditioning make the trailer different from an entirely outdoor activity, but guests still have to arrive and move between spaces. Think through rain, cold, heat, and a sheltered place for caregivers. Ask about the plan for conditions that affect travel or setup. Do not treat the climate-controlled trailer as confirmation that every weather situation is workable.
Keep food and drinks in your chosen gathering area unless the team agrees otherwise. Plan a hand-cleaning transition before snacks or cake. A short invitation note can explain the activity format, what clothing makes sense, and whether caregivers are expected to stay. Discuss those details with the team first so the invitation reflects the actual event.
Book once, then confirm the date together
You can enter event details and pay through party checkout. The requested date is confirmed after purchase; checkout itself is not a live calendar guarantee. If the requested date is unavailable, we will arrange another date with you or refund your party purchase. Watch for the follow-up and keep your order information handy.
A useful booking note includes the address, preferred time, children’s ages, expected number of children, package, and any location concerns. This gives the team enough context to confirm the event without several rounds of basic questions. For a broader checklist, read planning a sensory party or check the frequently asked questions.
